How to Use Register.Domains in Claude

How to Use Register.Domains in Claude

The Register.Domains connector gives Claude six read-only tools for domain names: availability checks, name ideas, extension prices and requirements, registry lookups, name server checks and page links. To add it on claude.ai, create a custom connector with the URL https://mcp.register.domains/claude/mcp. The connector is free, needs no Register.Domains account, and does not register domains, create accounts or take payments.

Information verified on 30 October 2026.

What the connector does

The connector lets Claude answer domain questions in a chat, such as whether a name is available or what a country-code extension like .fr requires. Any registration is done separately on register.domains.

Item Detail
Connector name Register.Domains
Connector URL https://mcp.register.domains/claude/mcp
Sign-in No sign-in; no headers or OAuth details
Cost Free
Register.Domains account Not needed
Tools 6, all read-only

How to add the connector on claude.ai

Menu names can vary. The availability of custom connectors depends on your Claude plan.

  1. Open Customize > Connectors (claude.ai/customize/connectors).
  2. Select Add, then Add custom connector.
  3. Enter Register.Domains as the name and https://mcp.register.domains/claude/mcp as the URL.
  4. Check the authentication setting. Claude detects No sign-in, so you do not need headers or OAuth details.
  5. Select Add, then Connect. The connector appears as Connected.
  6. In a chat, select + > Connectors and turn on Register.Domains.
  7. Approve each tool when Claude asks. Whether Claude asks depends on your connector permissions.

The six tools

All six tools are read-only.

Tool What it does
Check domain availability Checks availability across more than 1,100 extensions, up to 20 names per call. Recent results may come from a short-lived cache.
Suggest available domain names Returns up to 10 name ideas per call, with the availability status of each.
Get extension prices and requirements Returns list prices in USD (first year and renewal) and the requirements of each extension: local presence, documents, Trustee service and authoritative name servers.
Look up a registered domain Returns the registrar, dates, status, name servers and DNSSEC. It never returns the holder’s contact details.
Check authoritative name servers Checks whether name servers answer authoritatively, for extensions that require this before registration.
Get Register.Domains page link Returns links to the search page with your names, or to an extension’s information page. Opening a link does not reserve or purchase anything.

Example questions

With Register.Domains turned on in a chat, you can ask Claude questions like these:

  • I need a domain name for my bakery in Lima, Peru. Suggest some options that are available.
  • Can I register a .fr domain if I live in Peru? What does it cost?
  • Who is the registrar of wikipedia.org and when does it expire?
  • Check whether limabakerystudio.pe and limabakerystudio.com are available and give me a link to see them on Register.Domains.

Limitations

  • Availability: a result is a check at one moment in time and does not reserve the name.
  • Prices: prices are list prices, and premium names can cost more.
  • Requirements: if a requirement is not verified for an extension, it is reported as not verified.
  • Usage limits: limits are shared among the connector’s users. If you reach one, try again later.

Troubleshooting

Problem What to do
The connector does not appear as Connected Remove it and add it again with the exact URL.
Claude does not use the tools Check that Register.Domains is turned on under + > Connectors in that chat.

Privacy

The connector receives only what the query needs. For details, see section 2.7 of the Register.Domains Privacy Policy.

Support

For help with the connector, use the Register.Domains contact page.
